Initial Ideas for my Own Music Magazine

Through the research I have done on ‘pop music’ I have decided I want my magazine cover to be fun looking and colourful. I believe by making the front cover attractive and bright it will catch the eyes of potential readers. The age group for my magazine would be around 13-24. This is because the genre of music is a more recent genre of music and will appeal to a younger target audience. Their gender would be predominantly female and they would live in places such as Manchester, Liverpool and for the slightly more middle classed audience, places like London. Their marital status would be single as they are a younger audience and are more interested in having fun as opposed to getting married and starting a family. Their social class would range from D to C2 and C1. This is because there will be some fans of pop music that are a working class and are perhaps still at college or university but aspire to be like people in the pop industry today. However there will be some people who fall into the class of skilled working class and lower middle class as this can be due to the way they have been brought up with middle classed parents but still aspire to be like the people in the pop culture.
In terms of the psychographics my target audience would be predominantly aspirers as they all inspire to have the luxury lifestyle of fame and fortune. There will also be a few mainstreamers who like to follow the crowd and watch programmes to do with ordinary people reaching for fame.
I will also like to have a serious side to my magazine as well as fun and include a life story by a teenage girl called “My First Gig Nightmare” so that younger readers of the magazine will be warned to be careful and stick together when going to crowded gigs.
