In order to make my front cover, contents page and double page spread I had to use Photoshop CS4. When I first started the course I had very little knowledge on how to use Photoshop apart from a few basics I had learnt in my year 11 media lessons. The preliminary task allowed me to develop the basic skills in constructing a magazine cover and contents page. When it came to making my music magazine I developed more advanced skills in using Photoshop however I was still not overly confident in everything I did so this would be something I would try to improve on if I had to do it again. However I did feel that Photoshop was the best programme to create our three pieces on as I was able to do different effects with the title and play around with the layout of the page.
All of the work we did throughout the coursework went onto our own personal blogs on the website Blogger. We had 11 separate portfolio sections in which were broken up into: evaluations, planning materials and finished products for both the preliminary task and the main task. By doing this our teacher could monitor our work and nothing would be lost as opposed to doing our work all on paper. I found the programme easy to use and I found it helpful to have all my coursework organised into different sections. By having it all kept online I was able to come back to certain things and improve my work after it had been checked by the teacher.
Instead of writing about our work individually, we were able to annotate our work online on Flickr. Any photographs or magazine covers that we needed to annotate would be uploaded onto Flickr so that we could then highlight the areas with a box in which we could write about that particular area and save it so when that area was scrolled over, it would reveal what I had written about that particular convention/appearance. I found the website very helpful when it came to annotating my work because it kept my work neat and was much less time consuming than annotating them by hand. However I did sometimes have trouble getting the programme to work but this problem was soon sorted.
